Does anyone know the history of the BK's "Guided Meditations"?
In the beginning of the Yagya, it is said leaders just chanted "Om" and everyone went into trance. From the original documents of the 30s and 40s, it is clear they were not remember Shiva as a bindu far off in Paramdham but were just remember and in love with Lekhraj Kirpalani instead.
Since the 1980s, in the West, the BKs have used an increasing number of "Guided Meditations" which themselves are increasingly vague and abstract. As far as I know, the practise was started by or popularised by Jayanti Kripalani, then copied by BK Diane and then by every western BK who was capable of doing so. BKs would use them to guide meditations during the 7 days course either using a tape recorder or speaking them in person.
Is this a practise which also happens in India? When did it start and who did so? Does anyone know the history?
