Kali and Shankar both belong to Rudramala. So, they will not join to become pure. Actually, it is Shankar (Confluence-Aged Narayan) and Parvati (head of Vijaymala or Confluence-Aged Lakshmi) who come together in purusharth to become pure or perfect.
