Two forms of Dristhi

Another interesting little snippet ... in the early days there were said to be Two forms of Dristhi

• Dristhi lena, and
  Dristhi dena

Dristhi lena was received from Lekhraj Kirpalani
Dristhi dena was given to newcomers.

Has anyone heard of this before and know how they differed?

It led to the BKs being accused ... ankhon se seh lena (mesmerising through the eyes).

Logically speaking - Everyone does two forms of drushti. Giving and taking.
In addition there are other modes too.

--Giving drushti = trying to influence/support/teach others or fight against or defend self. One will be in the SENDING mode.
--Taking drushti = Receiving support form others, or during learning, or during enjoying a movie. One will be in the RECEIVING mode.
--During ignoring, one feel as if not related to the issue - IGNORING mode.
--During detached observer stage, it is SAAKSHI/DETACHED mode. It is like a person watching a movie without being influenced by it. It is state of a judge- who even while listening to the petitioners does not get any personal feelings to the issue.
--Sometimes, both receiving and sending mode will happen together. Let's say- EXCHANGE or INTERACTING mode (Full Duplex Mode). Eg- When a person greets another, when two friends meet, etc. Even when two enemies/strangers meet, both sending and receiving modes can happen together.
---Another mode is HYPNOTISING mode.
---Highest mode is "NAZAR se NIHAAL" mode. That is- like being instrument to give vision level feelings.

At low level activities, drushti can be limited to worldly activities, at high level activities, it is spiritual activity/efforts. If there is mixture/ignorance/weakness either in sender or receiver, there can be room for Maya/confusion, and accusations, etc.

You can choose whichever mode you like.
