Origins of Human Race

Dear Members,

I have often wondered about the origins of our distinct categories of human race/ groups of people within our society..They range from Chinese, Indians, Africans, Europeans, Middle Eastern all living here on this planet earth. As we travel around the globe we come across these different categories of people residing in different continents of the earth. However, in this day and age we also see people relocating to different parts of the world for better opportunity, and people are also frequently mixing with others groups more freely due to globalization. All these distinct groups of people have their own unique facial features, hair, skin complexion, and even to some extent ways of thinking, and doing things. In School and Colleges we are taught about different theories of Origins of Human Race. Theologans and historians also have their own theory on this subject. I was wondering if there is something discussed or taught in Advance Knowledge in this regards?

Baba explained that those people who live in the area where is white (where it snows), have white complexion because they look at white a lot during the year. Those who live in a hot areas have to sweat a lot and scratch themselves; that is why they have dark complexion.

Could you tell me why you blame me for the silly answer as you said. This is Baba's explanation; I have repeated it, to give an answer to the question about AK teaching on the mentioned topic. Please blame me for a silly repetition, but do not blame me for a silly answer which doesn't belong to me. The answer comes from Advance Knolwedge explanations (either clarification classes or discussions) and it speaks for itself. For you it sounds silly; for me it sounds illogical and strange, unless I have evidence that it is based on facts. So far, I don't have them.


By the way, let me understad well - do you means that I post only silly answers and that above was the silliest ("that is the most silliest response I have heard from you so far..."). Okey, I will reflect on the quality of my reasoning in order to improve quality. :laugh:



In case someone likes to know the scientific respond to the same question, here it is:

Human skin colour can range from almost black to pinkish white in different people. In general, people with ancestors from sunny regions have darker skin than people with ancestors from regions with less sunlight.

Skin colour is determined by the amount and type of the pigment melanin in the skin. Melanin comes in two types: phaeomelanin (red to yellow) and eumelanin (dark brown to black). Both amount and type are determined by four to six genes which operate under incomplete dominance. One copy of each of those genes is inherited from the Father and one from the mother. Each gene comes in several alleles, resulting in a great variety of different skin colours.

Humans evolved dark skin, needed to prevent low folate levels when they lived in sun-rich areas. (The skin cancer connection is probably of secondary importance, since skin cancer usually kills only after the reproductive age and therefore doesn't exert much evolutionary pressure.) When humans migrated to sun-poorer regions in the north, low vitamin D3 levels became a problem and light skin colour evolved.

The colour of human skin varies from dark brown to pale pink. In attempting to discover the mechanisms that have generated such a wide variation in human skin colour, Nina Jablonski and George Chaplin (2000) discovered that there is a high correlation between the coloration of the human skin of indigenous peoples and the average annual ultraviolet (UV) radiation available for skin exposure where the indigenous peoples live.

Thank you for your scientific explanation Anu! I did not mean to say you give silly responses, but the explanation you gave for my question sounded like that to me. Now just for a comparision, it sounded a lot like you tell a small kid it is Santa Clause who brings presents for all the kids and puts in under the Christmas tree. The kid has faith in Santa so he thinks it is true, but grown adults know that is not true. Grown ups know there is no such thing as a Santa Clause who lives in the north pole and rides on a 8 sleigh Raindeer and delivers toys to all the good kids on this earth.
